Description

Great Crime Tour of London

London was the most prosperous city in the world for the majority of civilised (and not so civilised) history, and still ranks high today among the world's greatest cities. Take a moment to appreciate that a country the size of Ohio with a negligible resource base dominated the world for over two centuries, and London was at the heart of this imperialism. Tales of intrigue abound in the city's history, and we recount some of the most enthralling on the Great Crime Tour of London as we delve into the city's greatest crimes, misdemeanours, heists, and political conspiracy at the highest echelons of power.

Great Crime Tour of London Itinerary

    • London's Gangsters Anecdotes on London's most notorious gangsters and dangerous men will leave you enthralled
    • The Beatles Conspiracy Is Paul McCartney actually Paul McCartney...?!
    • The Diana Conspiracy What you don't know about the tragedy of the people's Princess
    • Art Heists As a hub for the world's contemporary art market London has seen some of the greatest unsolved art heists in history
    • Jewellery Heists Awesome, like straight from a movie type scenarios!
    • Political Scandal What happens behind closed doors on London's streets at night invariably doesn't stay there long, and boy does some strange stuff go down!
    • Monument Great Fire of London, conspiracy or accident?
    • Blackfriars Bridge Mafia mysteries, assassinations and victorian baby farming!
    • Bank Robbery It was a big one, did they get away with it?
    • Big Brother How powerful is the government and how much do they control the lives of Londoners?
    • There are many more tales of conspiracy, scandal, and intrigue to be told as we visit some of London's great landmarks and reveal their darkside

Myself and a group of 3 friends went on the London Crime tour, and were not disappointed. Out tour guide, Alan, was fun, interesting and easy to talk to. Tour went along Southbank, from Hungerford bridge to London bridge, stopping to share stories and pointing out key places. At the end, Alan recommended good nearby pubs etc, and easy routes home.
It's just a shame you can't choose the other tour guests, as one arrogant 'know-it-all' kept adding his own opinion and spoilt the fun a bit!
Highly recommend, something different to do, and fun!
I have also used Great British Tours for the Ghost tour of London, and wasn't disappointed then, either!(Posted on 2/18/2016)

Me and my friend had Alan leading the tour and he was really good! We learnt things about London that you'd never normally know, my friend lives in London and learnt things! I can't really highlight anything that stood out, because the whole tour was amazing. Would recommend to others, and definitely go on it again.(Posted on 2/18/2016)
Fun and Interesting Walking Crime Tour Review by Eric G

Our guide Alan took us from Hungerford Bridge to London Bridge, strolling on the south bank of the Thames, stopping frequently to describe events that either took place on the south bank or on the north side of the river. Alan was funny and engaging and his stories of murder and mayhem in London were fascinating. If you like hearing stories of heinous crimes, displayed in all their hideous glory, this tour is for you.(Posted on 2/18/2016)

This was an excellent guide! John was very witty and explained the story is a way that gripped everyone in the group...the stories that everyone knows were given a new twist and it truly was a great trip. Recommend this to everyone if you enjoy a good history story!(Posted on 10/5/2015)
Murder" pronounced like only a Glaswegan can Review by pildyboys

Booked the tour online and turned up to find at least 30 others too. I did wonder how the guide would cope. He had a loud scottish voice, and could pronounce murrrrderrrrr as only a scot can! This got a laugh from all 30 plus and left the younger ones bewildered. John the guide was extremely knowledgable, he had pictures to show and was very guresome in his story telling. He gave us his own thoughts on the culprit. The tour is flat and whellchair friendly (there was a lady on one on the tour). The stop are plentyful and the walk not actually all that far. Good value for money, the only downfall is booking on line in advance, this is a problem if its cold or raining.(Posted on 10/5/2015)

I was browsing the net trying to find something different to do in London tonight. I did not book online and decided to go to the meeting point and take it from there, and what a great decision it turned out to be! Just enough history, beautiful sights and scary stories.... George is a great guide, easy to follow (not leaving anyone behind and speaking loud and clear). After this tour, I'd love to join anyone of the other tours offered when I'm next in London.

South Bank Walking Tour Review by jhntigers

Six of us, 4 adults and 2 children (8 & 6 years), did the walking tour of the South Bank on Sunday morning. Our guide, Alan, was wonderful - friendly, considerate and really engaging with the children - and although it was Biblically wet (seriously, I was about to round up two of every animal and board the HMS Belfast...) we all thoroughly enjoyed the walk and the stories/facts that we were told and really appreciated the way Alan was able to adapt the stories for the kids, keeping some of the gruesome, "Horrible History" type facts in, but leaving other bits out. And our 6 year old is now certain she can crack the case of Dr Crippen...!!

I would definitely recommend to friends/family and we'll be looking at some of the other tours on offer for the future.

We very nearly missed the start of the tour after walking around the entire park expecting to find a huge statue we were supposed to meet at which turned out to be a tiny thing by a cafe near the entrance to the park (we had come into the park's entrance further over and missed it).

Tom was very friendly and entertaining. Knowledgeable and the evening was a lot of fun. He didnt rush and always made sure everyone was there. Boat trip down the Thames included. We were lucky we got our tickets on offer on Wowcher as i think i would have thought twice of paying the full price.(Posted on 10/3/2015)

Alan was our tour guide and he was great, very knowledgeable . There was only me and my partner on this tour but it still went ahead. Alan knew so much and made it interesting . We all thought the tour would be quick as there was only us but it lasted longer than usual ! I'm from London but still learnt a lot and we shared a few things with Alan as well that he didn't know! The stories were amazing.well done Alan!

We were disappointed that a boat trip was advertised as part of the tour, upon arrival out guide made it clear that part of the tour was not going to happen and we would be taking the tube instead.
Our guide was called Tom and did a great job with all the stories and keeping everyone interested and part of the group.

Alan was our guide for the evening. A very knowledgeable young man, although he was happy to learn from us too (apparantly it's hanged not hung!). Learnt some interesting stories whilst on a lovely leisurely walk along the Southbank, encouraging us to participate in either passing on our own knowledge of the stories or trying to work it out for ourselves from his clues. Definatey would recommend for passing a great couple of hours in the capital, going to see what other tours are avaialble for a try.
