Purchased the tour on Groupon, and enjoyed the Chicago Food Tour. Some stops were great, some were ok, but the our guide Seth, was a lot of fun and tried to incorporate a lot of Chicago history. Great way to spend the afternoon.

SETH was our tour guide and he was awesome. After reading some not so favorable reviews wasn't sure what to expect. Tour guide was on time, very personable and knowledgeable of the area. SETH was hysterical and made everyone laugh. The food we tried was amazing. I would definitely try another tour maybe our next one would be the cupcake tour. Definitely worth the money. Don't let the negative reviews detour you. It is well worth the adventure.(Posted on 2/15/2016)

We attended a tour on July 27th. Seth was our guide, and he was very friendly, funny, and very knowledgeable about the Chicago area. The restaurants we stopped at included Westtown Bakery, Pizzeria Due, Downtown Dogs, L'Appetito, and Sprinkles. Each place had different food, and gave us a taste of Chicago. Be prepared to do some walking - it was broken up by the stops, but the group does need to keep moving to hit all of the restaurants in the time alotted. If you want extra food, have some cash or a card on you. The best place we purchased extras was at Sprinkles using the cupcake ATM. That was a treat (no pun intended).

We purchased this tour on Groupon, and redeemed via the website, which gave us a great value for what we received. I am not sure I would pay the full price listed on the website, but would surely purchase a different Chicago food tour on Groupon should we return again.(Posted on 2/15/2016)

We took the great food tour of chicago in late march, it was a little chilly (duh) but to be expected and the tour guides, brent and jeff(or maybe tim)(i think jeff) were so awesome!! The food was great everywhere and dont eat beforehand, this isnt a snack its a meal. We started at the west town bakery, which we went to the next day it was so good, Had some original chicago deep dish pizza, oh so amazing, did you know theres a cupcake shop with an atm, for cupcakes, yea its amazing. Our tour ran about a half hour longer than expected because we had margaritas at the mexican place and ran into a museum quick, it was great! We will have to do the chocolate one next time and the wine and cheese tour the time after that!! These are businesses so you can take a danish or a panini to go and dont forget to tip! Had an awesome time, thanks again.

Our family of four took the food tour with Jason this afternoon. He was a great guide and added to the tour with his knowledge and insight.

The food selection was good with a variety of option for even our picky 10 year old eater. We visited 6 places total. The menu included soft pretzels, deep dish pizza, tacos, chicago dogs, gelato, and cupcakes.

I took the food tour with Greg and we visited 5 places. As a Chicago resident, I really do not get a chance to enjoy what my city has to offer. This was really a great way to take a break from the normal hustle and bustle to walk around in the River North/ Gold Coast area and enjoy some good food. The highlight of the trip was getting to visit the second floor of Due's. It is not open to the public and was furnished with many of the original pieces from when the building was a house. I especially enjoyed the history lesson surrounding Uno's, Due's, and Su Casa. It was a fun girl's afternoon out - away from the kids.

We had a great time this weekend, despite the FREEZING temperatures, at the great food tour of Chicago. We went with a group of 6 and this was our first tour of any kind in Chicago. Here are some things I wish I knew before:

- They say the tour is 2 hours, its LONGER than that. I loved it except I only paid for 3 hours of parking so that was a little bit of a stresser but it got fixed. All together, including traveling back to the original meeting spot it was about 3 and half hours.
- The meeting location (the address on the reservation) has nothing to do with the tour, you have to wait just outside of the building
- You get LOTS of food...We all walked away stuffed. I was worried it was just going to be little tastings and I was presently surprised about just how much you get.
- They are very accommodating! our tour guide, Eddie, did a great job making us feel comfortable and not a pain if we spoke up and said we did not like a certain flavor of something. Instead he went and got us something we could enjoy at each stop.

Overall, I really liked our tour guide and the tour! I will be signing up for another one soon! when its warmer of course!

We had a great time. Jason, our tour guide, was a good combination of jokester but keeping us moving forward. The only reason I don't mark it as excellent is because we're not getting a huge amount of new information, the "tour" part is a bit slim, but the samples of food are fantastic. Like I said, Jason is a lot of fun and did a great job pointing out a few interesting buildings along our route. I would definitely recommend this tour.

I did this tour by myself, because i have no friends, and my girlfriend had just left me. But Seth made me feel like the only guy in the room. Since being depressed my apetite had been gone, but the fun that Seth brought made me want to eat everything in sight. Great job, and I'm feeling much better these days.

Jason was so fun and informative! He made the tour. We took the food tour with stops for Italian, pizza, Mexican, cake balls and cupcakes. I called ahead to find out about how far the walk was and they said never more than 2 1/2 - 3 blocks between - not so, sometimes 4 - 6 blocks. All the restaurants were really good except Sprinkles (cupcake) - they made you stand outdoors and the cupcakes was about the size of your thumbnail. We got discount tickets through Travel Zoo - would not have been worth it at full price. Would definitely go back to Pizza Due on our own!

I had a blast on this tour! I don't normally like "touristy" things at all, but a friend convinced me to come on this, and I was pleasantly surprised. Our guide, Seth, was really funny and energetic, which I think really helped me like it more. I definitely recommend this to anyone coming to the city, or even living in it! I've lived here 6 years and had no idea it was such a great time.

I was visiting Chicago with my "California" girlfriend. I really wanted her to experience all the great cuisine that I grew up with in the town. So I booked this tour. Well worth it. I couldn't have plotted a better route myself. Plus she loved it. I dont think I can convince her to move there, since it was December and cold as (insert your inappropriate simile here)!

I also have to mention the guide, Seth. Super good dude. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Also very funny in like a goofy self-deprecating kind of way. He really made it a blast. He should do stand up comedy or something. Go Seth! And go Great Food Tours! Now I'm going back to Cali where it's 50 degrees warmer!

Before moving out of Chicago for mostly sunny Florida, a friend and I decided to spend the day on a chocolate tour. Our tour guide, Seth (who was funny and full of Chi-Town facts), was a gracious and warm host. I loved the chocolate truffles from Vosges and got 15% off my purchase because I was on the tour. We had a great time. I highly recommend the tour! TIP- Definitely go to the Great Food Tour Chicago's website and use the code SETH50 in the checkout area, you'll get 50% off to sign up for the tour!!

I purchased 4 tickets for this tour off of Travel Zoo. We picked our tour for a Friday in December. The pick up spot was one block from our hotel. Eddie was ready and waiting for us. Eddie was actually filling in for a coworker who was out sick. Our group had 9 people. We did the Chicago Food Tour. We stopped at 5 places and had a sample at each one. From pizza, taco's and cupcakes. It was a fun tour and Eddie was very entertaining with lots of information about the restaurants and even buildings we were passing. We were able to eat inside at all but Sprinkles. Which was nice since it was quite cold. I would recommend the tour but am glad I only paid $20 a person. If I had paid the $50 I would of been a little disappointed. We all left the tour full.

We did the Great Food Tour the Friday afternoon we arrived in Chicago. It provided a nice way to start to see some of the city and learn about some of the foodie fare available. The Chicago Dog and Sprinkles we tops. We also did Westside Bakery, Uno and a deli which seemed to offer food that was kind of similar (bread/cheese/sauce...) so we would have preferred a bit more variety. As we used a Groupon it was still a good value and a fun way to get "lunch".

When my friend suggested we embark on a chocolate tour, I thought she was joking. I had no idea such goodness existed in our fair city. Not only did we eat delicious chocolates, we learned a little bit of the history behind it, and thanks to our very funny and friendly tour guide, Seth - we laughed a whole bunch too. The cake balls were outstanding - we walked, ate yummy delights, learned a ton and Seth managed to have our entire group laughing and smiling along the way. I've already recommended this tour to many family members and friends. I'm hoping they'll take me! So good - so good!

Great Food Tours of Chicago is a must for visitors or locals of Chicago. The Italian walking tour was a fun and tummy filled experience at a great value. Jason was our host and guide. He provided a historical & knowledgable trip that offered a tasting from selected restaurants and eateries. The tour was organized with obvious forethought for efficiency. As we arrived at each destination, our tastings were waiting to be served hot and with little delay; we were able to walk in sit down and start eating our samples much quicker than just anyone walking in off the street. As we ate, Jason would provide additional fun facts about the restaurant and the menu choice we were given. The food tours take place rain or shine and despite the Chicago wind and weather, we kept warm and hungry walking through one of this cities scenic areas. We completely enjoyed the Italian tour and look forward to trying one of the others offered by Great Food Tours of Chicago.

Great Food Tours of Chicago... GREAT! Review by Alton D

Some fellow co-workers decided to go on this food tour. Our tour guide was Jason he was really fun, personable, but not too "look at me. I'm being funny" of a character which sometimes bothers me... Also he was exceptionally tall which helps because I was afraid of being lost in the crowd. I don't remember were all we went it was some pizza. A hot dog spot. And a cup cake place. I ate an Aracini (sp) for the first time. I felt like I was on a cool college field trip for fat people. And the walking wasn't all that bad. And like with most things its the company you keep. My suggestion is to go with people who you know are going to be fun. Nibble on some food and enjoy the sites, sounds and smells of the tour.
