Harry Potter Tour of Edinburgh Review by Bilbo B

The guide was a little over the top in her presenting style, but she clearly knew her stuff. I would say that some of the links are a little tenuous at (Diagon Alley, Tom Riddle's grave etc), but otherwise it was a fun & interesting walk.(Posted on 2/19/2016)

My daughter and I took part in this simple and effective tour of London last year, the day before heading out to Leavesden to visit the studios where the Harry Potter films were made. It was excellent value for money. Our guide, Frankie, was so much fun and very well informed. The walk (and short ferry ride) took in some top sites off the beaten track as well as the more obvious landmarks of London. Whether you are a fan of the Harry Potter books or the movies or both, it will be well worth your while. Even if you're not a fan but want to see a little more of London and uncover some interesting tidbits about its history, you'll enjoy it. So book it in! Take your camera. It really is a great way to spend a few hours.(Posted on 2/19/2016)

a great way to spend a few hours wandering around London discovering some of the sights that aren't so obviously touristic. Not for those with walking difficulties, as it did make your feet throb a bit afterwards. (Certainly suggest sensible shoes with a good comfy sole, and gloves in cold weather!) John (who forgot his gloves yesterday!) was entertaining and full of interesting facts both Harry Potter and alternative Londinium history. I am already planning our next trip, and we will almost certainly be looking to do the Jack the Ripper walking tour. Thanks for a great Sunday morning, and good luck with your acting career John! John, our tour guide (Scottish), was very informative and answered all questions asked. We walked through back roads and alleyways that I had never seen before!!. My daughter is a Harry Potter fan and has read all the books and seen the films many times so she really got involved in the 'banter' about which house you prefer, your favourite film etc. It was supposed to be a tour of 2.5 hours but it took nearly 3 hours. I felt it was excellent value with a great tour guide. Thanks John(Posted on 2/19/2016)

To start it was a a crisp sunny day Tom the first guide we met was walking round shouting "anyone for the Harry Potter walking tour" so no problem with finding them in Leicester square. Once everyone assembled Alan gave us some information before we set off lead by Tom. The tour was fun and informative and as Harry Potter fans we got to see some places in London off the beaten track. All in all a fantastic tour. Thanks to Tom And Alan for a great tour.(Posted on 2/19/2016)

I enjoyed the 2.5 hour tour that started at Leicester Square and ended at King’s Cross Station. John, our tour guide, was friendly and knowledgeable. John made the tour entertaining by asking questions related to Harry Potter periodically.

We visited places that were in the Harry Potter movies and that inspired the Harry Potter books. Along the way, other London landmarks and places that were in other films were also identified.

A trip on the Underground is also required. The final stop at King’s Cross Station is the location of Platform 9 ¾ where a photographer and an assistant can take your photograph with a cart embedded in the wall. The price of the photo is £9.50. There is a Harry Potter shop nearby where you pick up your photo and it also sells Harry Potter related merchandise.(Posted on 2/18/2016)

We went on the Harry Potter walking tour on Wednesday, our tour guide was Tom (I think?!) the lovely aussie! We got to have a good look around London, off the beaten track, taking in the places that inspired JK Rowling and where scenes from the film were filmed.
It IS a walking tour, you are walking, at a relatively quick pace, for the whole time which was fine for me, my 5 year old, who is a good walker, struggled for the last 45 mins. Wear comfy shoes, take a drink with you!
We got our Harry Potter tickets off of a voucher site, so it was well worth the money!(Posted on 2/17/2016)

Me and my partner went on the Harry Potter tour on the 6th of June, the tour guide Tom was lovely and very informative. He had a loud voice which reached the the back of the group so no matter where you were stood you could hear him. He made the whole tour much more fun and interesting by asking us questions and when someone answered he gave replies such as "well done 10 points to Gryffindor!". Be prepared to walk for around 2 and a half hours and please do as the ticket says and ensure you have a ticket to use on the tube as you will have to take a ride on the tube once or twice and if you haven't got your ticket as the ask you to in advance it holds up the whole group, this happened to us and it was very annoying.
Thank you Tom for a great walking tour!!!(Posted on 2/17/2016)

My friend and I booked with the Harry Potter walking tour and found it to be an incredible use of 2.5 hours. Our guide, Joe, was fun and very informative and enthusiastic about the subject matter. He took us through back alleys and markets, places that are so neat but very off the beaten track. We started in Leicester Square, went through Trafalgar, over Millennium Bridge, through Scotland Yard, and ended up at King's Cross for the legendary Platform 9 3/4. The pace was perfect, Joe kept pictures in a binder with him to show us comparisons from the real site to how it was changed with movie magic.
We hit a ton of sites we probably would have missed, so take your camera and make sure you have an Oyster or travel card with you, because you use the tube a couple of times!(Posted on 2/16/2016)

A friend and I were looking to do something we hadn't done in London before so we decided to try this. Got the tickets through yplan and at a discount so our unemployed budgets were not too hurt.
Our tour guide was Tom (the australian) and he was sweet, funny and knowledgeable. His voice also made it easy to hear through construction and traffic.
The tour itself was basic, if you expect something loke the warner bros studio tour, well don't. But I did learn quite a lot of interesting facts not only about the movies, their locations and the actors but also about London. I will be more aware of my surroundings as I go about my business in London. Also, that detail about the guy who draws monsters on the gum stuck on the millennium bridge made me very happy. I will be proudly taking my friends there now.
So yeah, very satisfied, thank you Tom!(Posted on 11/18/2015)

I had so much fun on this tour. Tom was really amazing, friendly and funny. He's really good at his job. There's so much to see in Central London, and not only do you get to see all the cool places that were inspirations to or critical filming points for the HP series, but you also get to explore the beautiful city with a guide, so you won't get lost. If there's anything that I would have changed about my experience, I would have brought more money to spend in the 9 3/4 store. Absolutely a spectacular and wonderful time.(Posted on 11/8/2015)

We recently went on a harry potter walking tour, which was lead by Frankie (the Yorkshire man AKA - Voldemort with a beard) and Tom (the Aussie AKA - Hagrid on holiday). We are a family of 4 with kids aged 11 & 8. I can not recommend this tour enough, it was the highlight of our four night stay in London.

As big Harry Potter fans we were amazed at the level of information given, without it being 'Geeky', stuff we never knew. Not only Harry Potter information but other interesting information on London.

We visited parts of London we'd never have thought of going to, but would definitely visit again.

Frankie and Tom were brilliant and made time to talk to everyone on the tour, even though we were a big group. The kids loved it and my husband and myself have recommended the tour to several friends. If you have the opportunity to go, definitely take it up, you won't regret it!

My fiancee and I had a wonderful afternoon walking around London, visiting some of the sites where scenes were filmed for the Harry Potter films, or locations that inspired J K Rowling when she first wrote the series.

Our tour guide was fantastic. John, a lovely Scottish guy with a voice that was perfect for the tour, had an excellent sense of humor. He was informative about the places we visited, the world of Harry Potter and also would give us bits of information about London as we strolled through it.

We started off in Leicester Square and went through a number of locations that were explained in detail and at a good pace. We continued on until we had a short trip on a boat across the Thames to get to the next stop. (note, you can purchase snacks and drinks here, and have a chance to use the loo if you need to) the journey carried on until you end at Kings Cross Station to see the famous platform 9 3/4.

Overall it was a brilliant walk around London and was both informative, entertaining and interesting. Would highly recommend this to anyone that has any interest in the Harry Potter series.

Celebrity Planet Harry Potter Walk - Excellent! Review by TorontoToStart

A friend and I took the Harry Potter Walk yesterday – Sunday August 3rd. We are both adults but of course fans of the Harry Potter books and films. We were greeted on time by two of the friendliest, liveliest, entertainingly great fellows Ferry and Frankie. They were efficient in confirming we were down for the tour, engaged people in a super friendly and engaging way that made everyone on the tour welcome. We had folks on the tour that spoke a number of different languages, and while neither of our guides spoke other languages, they did have some basic key phrases that made these visitors welcome. Off we went for our excellent adventure and a whole host of sites, scenes, facts, trivia and the odd quiz question which I think the tour participants enjoyed.
Our tour involved catching a boat on the Thames and heading down river to a stop where the tour continued. Then we all caught the tube and headed to Kings Cross where the tour ended. Through all of this navigating and negotiating the different modes of transport, Ferry and Frankie where there as our guardians and ensured we were together, were safe and sound, and informed us all along the way as to where we were going and what we were seeing.
On our wonderful tour – our lovely guides added many additional bits of information concerning many of the actors in the Harry Potter films so that the background information we received was of great value. Also if other important films or facts were made along our walking tour, these were pointed out – and I for one really appreciated that extra information over and above the Harry Potter film information. Well done for adding this.
So was this tour good value for the money – absolutely. Were the tour guides good – no they were exceptionally good!!! The tour was very well planned, executed and very much appreciated. I can only hope that these two guides continue doing this tour for the enjoyment, education, benefit, and such great fun – for other people taking the tour. Thank you gentlemen – you were stars!

I Have just come home from a Harry Potter tour with Celebrity planet. The guide Frankie was fantastic he was very personable and amusing. The weather was not great and its a lot of walking but Frankie really kept the spirits up with anecdotes and his great sense of humour, I had my picture with the dusty Hufflepuff scarf just for him!!

This tour is every Harry Potter fans' dream. You start in Leicester Square and walk through central London to sites that we used for filming and what was inspired by J.K. Rowling. Thanks John

Great walking tour with lots of details and information about Harry Potter movies and books. We now know where J.K.Rowlings inspiration came from. From the things she saw every day on her way to and from her work in the city.
it's a nice way to get to know London. Our guide Mark kept everyone together and really enjoyed sharing all the information he knew about the locations. Budgets, special effects and even locations of different movies on our way. Just a fun tour.

I booked this as a way to see parts of London that we would not have seen before & to also see some of the places used in the filming of the Harry Potter movies.

Our tour guides - Tom & Frankie - were both informative & funny but made sure that we all kept together, particularly as London is very busy for over 65 of us (most of us were families with 1 or 2 children) to try & stick together.

Will certainly use Great British Tours again for future walking tours around London.

Superb ! Joe (our guide) was full of interesting facts and trivia about the Harry Potter franchise, the tour took in locations that inspired JK Rowling or were used in the film. Despite working in London for 30 years I saw parts of the city I had never seen before, and (somehow worse) parts I walk past daily and had never properly noticed !

Would happily book one of the other London tours the next time I visit with my family - they are particularly good value with the National Rail 2-for-1 deals

We did a harry potter tour last week. 2 adults and 2 kids. Booked through viator which was hassle free. Don't expect them to reply to email queries though. A month later I am still waiting. Our guide - so sorry I forgot his name - was a youngish Scottish chap. We covered a huge amount of central London and learned lots not only about Harry potter but about London and other movies. It was a good pace factual funny. We also got a short boat ride on the Thames.
Highly recommend this tour!

I am not a Harry Potter fanatic. My children are fans of the books. When we vacationed in London, we took in the walking tour of Harry Potter in London. The tour guide was very entertaining and informing. He had the ability to translate Potterisms to those who were not well versed with all the book stories. At the same time, Tom, the tour guide from Australia, was able to keep those in the group who were well versed in Potterisms, on their toes. Highly recommend the tour.

5 of 5 starsReviewed 26 April 2014 NEW
Brilliant day out in London. The two guides were young and friendly - a very good mix of jokes/banter/facts and figures including general London information. The tour was around 2.5 hours, but there were lots of breaks and time went quickly. Suitable for all but the very young - On our tour on Friday 25 April 2014 there were a mix of ages from about 10 to over 65 and all were enthralled. If you like the HP books/films, you will love this tour which shows lots of areas used in the filming of the series plus those London areas that inspired JKR to include them in the books.
Fully recommend without hesitation

I took the Harry Potter walking tour in London last Thursday and I really had a great time. Our guide, John, was really funny and created a great atmosphere. Everyone was happy to find out where scenes of the movies were shot, where we could find original and signed copies of the novels, which places in London inspired JK Rowling... The great "plus", for me, was that John also linked Harry Potter facts to real History,

I would highly recommend this tour to any fans wanting to spend quality Harry Potter time in London :)

“Great Harry Potter walking tour” Review by David G (a TripAdvisor Member)

We've just returned from a fantastic Harry Potter tour in central London. The tour was led by Joe who did a great job at showing as various filming locations used in the film and had loads of stories and interesting facts about the books, films and actors, interspersed with knowledge of London and it's sights too. Highly recommended.

We had a great tour with I think his name was Perry earlier this week, seeing all the sites that either inspired the Harry Potter books or were in the HP movies. Perry was totally funny and entertaining and charming and very good shepherding the group and knew lots of general London knowledge and gave a fantastic tour. The one teeny tiny thing I would mention, is that at the end of the tour, he recommended going to toy store Hamleys saying they had a full floor of Harry Potter merchandise. We trekked over to a different part of London to go to Hamleys only to find that it has been years since they had a floor of HP. They had a few "collectors" items in a glass case, but nothing else. So we had to trek all the way back the next day to Kings Cross to go to the Harry Potter store where we had been the day before by platform 9 3/4. But a small thing. Overall Perry was seriously fantastic and I would recommend this tour to everyone. Ours were the only kids in the group, so it's actually lots of adults doing the HP tour. And everyone in our group from teens through elderly ladies absolutely loved Perry.

Fantastic Tour with the Amazing Scottish John !!!! Very funny who really knows all about Harry Potter . As we are French and we come for the children they don't understand everything and we have to try to translate as long he talks .

It was very good, and I liked to discover some little hidden places in London, like the oldest bookshop area!
But I think it's a shame the company doesn't plan any translated booklets for people who don't understand English very well. I had to translate what the guide was saying to a grandma and her granddaughter during my tour, because they didn't speak any word of English.
I really should have asked to be paid for that!! lol(Posted on 3/5/2014)

The tour was far better than I was expecting. Tom our guide was very knowledgable and seemed to enjoy giving the tour as much as we enjoyed taking it. We saw many inspirations for the films and Tom was able to give us lots of background information. We enjoyed the river boat trip and were pleasantly surprised at the set up at Kings Cross Station.

Just back from a weekend in London & the Harry Potter walking tour on Saturday. What a trip! Our guides Frankie & Ferry were fantastic, fun & entertaining & full of interesting Harry Potter facts and general London info. The tour is a good two & a half hours but doesn't feel that long and you don't realise how far you've walked until afterwards. I'd thoroughly recommend this to any HP fan, young or less young. Thank you so much for a fab afternoon.

A fantastic tour with an excellent tour guide. My daughter thought she knew everything there was to know about Harry Potter but Tom impressed us all with his knowledge and enthusiasm. As well as the Harry Potter sites and facts, there were many more bits of information about the city of London; other film locations and even an insight into the 'Jack the Ripper Tour' (which the kids are now begging to on). Would thoroughly recommend!

What a fantastic tour. And a bonus the rain stayed off! Meeting at Leicester Square can be a bit confusing but we soon got sorted into our groups. We had Gill as our guide, who was very chatty and friendly... and obviously a Harry potter nerd herself. She added some interesting London facts here and there which kept my dad entertained...he doesn't like Harry Potter so was dreading the tour, but even he loved it! Would recommend this tour to people wanting to learn more about this interesting city. Thanks Gill for improving our visit.

Did this trip a few weeks ago. It was really interesting and our guide was excellent and very knowledgeable about the subject. It was quite long, approximately 3 hours, but well worth it. A boat trip was included and the background history of London made it definitely much more than just a harry potter tour.

We were also informed that the tour had been put back to 4pm, and I recall Joe did apologise for the short notice in the booking.
The walk itself was interesting, and despite the rain, hail, lighting and thunder enjoyable.
Joe is an enthusiastic guide who ensured the group stayed together, took time to make sure everyone could hear and understand him.
We thoroughly enjoyed the evening, and the boat ride on the Thames was a highlight, seeing London from the river in the twilight really compensated for the rain!

Had a fantastic time with friends on this tour, had a nice small group so could hear everything that we were being told. Frankie very quickly built a great rapport with the group and had a great and extensive knowledge of the Harry Potter franchise and of London. You get to see a few of the London sights too. Would recommend this tour to any Harry Potter fan, just make sure you have very comfortable shoes on.

“Fantastic Happy Potter London Walking Tour!” Review by JosefNero (a TripAdvisor Member)

I recently joined my friend and his family (including teenage children!) on the Harry Potter London walking tour. We all had a great time. I must say, what made it that extra bit special was our tour guide, Frankie. I've been on guided tours before, but this stands out from the rest. Frankie was great at building rapport with us all so quickly, and we felt very comfortable. It was very fun and he kept us engaged, entertained and well informed about the sights. I would highly recommend this tour - you get to see lot's of London's landmarks whilst visiting all the places in the HP films. The boat trip was really fun too, but wrap up warm because London in January is cold! Didn't notice it much though because we were all having such a great time. Highly recommended!

This was a fun and informative walking tour, led by Frankie, a very knowledgable and engaging tour leader. A perfect way to spend time around London, Frankie not only kept us entertained with interesting Harry Potter facts and trivia but added other information about London landmarks too. I would highly recommend this tour for both adults and children alike, a magical family day out. The included boat trip on the Thames was an added bonus!

I was visiting London for the weekend with my niece, who is a big Harry Potter fan and has already visited the studios. We weren't sure what to expect from this, but have to say it was amazing. The weather was a bit miserable but Frankie the tour guide was brilliant, really kept up his enthusiasm. My niece said she learnt a lot about Potter that she didnt know and I also got to see lots
of different london locations that I would never have gone to
otherwise as a visitor. 100% recommended.

A nice small group of 10 headed out at 1030 on a Sunday morning with tour guide Frankie. This guy is such a character, very friendly and really knows his stuff. Not only is he a Potter guru, but is a mine of facts about London that (as he kept reminding us) could win a pub quiz for you. His personality and charisma are what make this tour so successful. The tour itself takes you around the locations for the filming of the Potter movies, and includes a short trip on the Thames Clipper.. The tour finishes at Platform 9 3/4 where photos can be taken, and of course there is the customary overpriced gift shop. Highly recommended for any Potter fan. (Posted on 1/19/2014)

I went on the Harry Potter tour the Sunday before last, with my friends and our teenage children. Not having seen any of the films or read any of the books, I wasn't expecting to enjoy the tour very much. I couldn't have been more wrong. We all had a great time, which was mainly down to our 2 brilliant guides Ferry and Frankie. They were so entertaining, knowledgable and had a great sense of humour. I have lived in London all my life, but was taken to areas I had never been before and found out things I never knew about various places and landmarks. I would recommend this tour (and these 2 guides ) to anyone, even non Harry Potter fans.

The boat ride was a perfect break half way through the tour where you could chill and enjoy the landmarks around then back on to walking. This was such fun! You need to be prepared to walk for a few hours and also have a valid Oyster card or travel card for the short tube ride - and you also get to go on a Thames Clipper.

Our friendly, well-informed and entertaining tour guide Frankie took us past all the locations and 'inspirations' for the Harry Potter books and films ending up at Platform 9 3/4 - we were on our feet for the best part of 3 hours but we didn't tire because there was so much to see and enjoy that the time sped by. Doing the tour so close to Christmas meant the city looked even more magical. Would highly recommend the tour and Frankie did an amazing job - even my teenage daughter who is a Harry Potter expert learned more stuff!

Despite being to London many times before it was great to see it from the 'Harry Potter' perspective. The guide was very knowledgable and enthusiastic and he knew information about lots of London landmarks, not just the Harry Potter related ones. We both really enjoyed our 2 1/2 hour tour, and would highly recommend it to others. Thank you!

On a very cold day and a party of just 3, Jill; our tour guide was extremely knowledgable and friendly. After meeting at Celebrity Planet TKTN box office in Leicester Square and nipping in to Costa for a hot latte; we headed out on foot. Gill showed us many Harry Potter locations; describing each and every one in fine detail. Gill also talked about other London attractions as we past them. Despite the cold weather and small party, the tour wasn't rushed and Gill took time to make all the stops that gave a very interesting tour. A Thames river cruise (price included in the ticket) was also included in the tour; albeit short it was still very interesting to cruise the Thames for about 20 minutes. We used the tube to get to Kings Cross and see platform 9 & 3/4 (not included in ticket price) where you can have your photo taken and visit the Harry Potter shop. All in all a very enjoyable and entertaining tour hosted by a very cold but enthusiastic Gill who I'm sure will buy gloves for future tours!

30th September 2013: After we have already visited the Harry Potter Warner Bros. Studio Tour this weekend, we also had to make a trip to the London film sets. At Leicester Square collected us the likable tour guide who came fittingly from Edinburgh, Scotland. The tour combines JK Rowling's inspiration places and Warner Bros. filming locations, as well as anecdotes about the actors and information about London's most famous landmarks we passed. All in all a very entertaining tour. The three hours passed far too quickly and our feet did not even hurt. Highly recommended.

Tip: It is very helpful to book the tour in advance or pay the price in cash, because you can not pay by credit card on the spot.

------

This walking tour was brilliant, to be fair the evening weather made it that extra bit perfect as we were able to amble around the atmospheric back streets of london which appeared in the film. My two children absolutely adore Hazza (me, no so much) but what I really appreciated was our tour guide's knowledge of not just Harry Potter but also other British film trivia which he was able to add in alongside. Our guide, Frankie, was an incredibly lovely bloke and even with a group of about 20 on the busy streets of London he looked after us and kept us together. Great leadership skills, never leaving a man behind ! Even when my oyster card trapped me on the wrong side of the barriers he pulled out all the stops to prevent the group being separated. A brilliant sense of humour keeping us all engaged. p.s river boat tour was a bonus. Highly recommended !

The Harry Potter walking tour with Fairy was a great way to spend an evening for the whole family. The tour guide was excellent, funny and led the group well. He also had heaps of fun Harry Potter and London based history facts that flowed well with the tour. Great for Harry Potter fans or anyone who would like a guided stroll through London with a bit of a theme...

Our family (2 adults and 4 children - age 17, 15, 13, 10) generally enjoyed this tour. Our guide, Alex, was very informative and made it interesting to everyone in the group. The pictures and video clips he showed us from the movies really added to the sights we saw. He pointed out several other interesting sights also. We felt there were too many people included in the group for a walking tour. We also would have enjoyed walking across the millennium bridge instead of the boat on the Thames.

My husband and I signed-up for the Harry Potter walking tour because our 10-year-old twin boys loved the books. Alex was our guide, and we felt very lucky. He was helpful, friendly, and full of information; He managed to make the tour interesting for my husband, who had neither read the books nor seen the movies. If we took a tour with this company again, I would definitely try to book one with Alex.

My husband and I went on this tour today with our daughter and her friend (both in early twenties). The guide was very good. He was very careful to keep us on the pavement, fit us all on to traffic islands and only cross at designated points and when the light was green for pedestrians - important when there's a large group with quite a number of primary age children. The boat trip from Embankment to Bankside had the great advantage of providing opportunities for a loo, a drink and a chance to sit down.

Ferry (apologies if the spelling is wrong) did a brilliant job of keeping a group of nearly 40 people together and making sure that he didn't start speaking until everyone had caught up and speaking loudly enough so that everyone could hear. He even kept us all together on the tube to Kings Cross, though I do wonder whether a flag on a pole or something might have given the slower walkers a little more confidence that they were following the right group. He was informative and interesting and gave us odd snippets about London as well as Harry Potter. He tried hard to make the tour informative for non-Potter fans.

Wear comfortable shoes and bring a drink and a snack with you. You might want a camera, but we didn't use ours much. Brought binoculars, but didn't use them.

The tour lasted 2 and a quarter hours rather than three, but we were quite pleased to sit down and have a late lunch by the time we finished.

Unfortunately the tour was below our expectations.
Although the guide, Frankie, was excellent, giving us lot of details about movies and places, I think think the fault the tour is a disaster lies with the organizers.
Especially the boat trip was awful. Covered boat was a through (I think on the time of Harry Potter) ! We were told that the boat will be refreshments and toilets but not only that there was nothing but many people have had to stand because there were not enough seats. After we got out of that dirty boat my four grandchildren refused to continue the walk.
I am really sorry I paid lot of money for a crap!!!(Posted on 8/2/2013)

Perfect weather. Nice walk. Long after a few years of working up there as a cinema projectionist at the Warner west end. Redundant when the rebuild from 5 screens to the multi screen Vue cinema back in Sept 1991. Ria gave us a tour of the sights. Amazing how much ambient noise there was at Leicester square compared to how quiet Scotland yard was. Perfect voice pitch considering the background noise on a Saturday. Shame about the wait for the boat ride on the Thames. If you are stuck again there. Just along the Embankment is something not visible anywhere else in the World. The Obelisk on Cleopatra`s needle has the Sphinx facing the obelisk. Every other location in the World has the sphinx guarding the obelisk by facing the opposite way. Excellent knowledge of where to find the nearest toilet from each location asked. For me it was nice to see a city by foot instead of the ease of public transport so close to home when in London. I have done tours before by foot in other cities & thought it was nice to hear about the area & with other films in the same locations to appreciate this amazing city i used to work in. After using a 3D camera to film the tour. My Wife can appreciate the commentary she missed as she is deaf & hard of hearing. I can appreciate the people joining the tour who added the atmosphere of being Harry Potter lookalikes by thrusting their wands at the camera. Thanks Ria for keeping the effort in throughout the tour right to the end & seeing the brief playback. Excellent.(Posted on 6/29/2013)

I really enjoyed this tour!! Even my friend who knew nothing about HP really enjoyed seeing the sights, the boat trip and learning a bit about London, too. Our guide Rhiannon was very enthusiastic, funny and knowledgeable! The walking pace was just right.
I was a bit confused, however, why the boat trip was inclusive, but we had to pay for the tube trip ourselves and can't remember that being mentioned in the desciption on the website. However, it didn't distract from a great evening that lasted about 2 1/4 hours. I wished that we had more photos of the film to look at while standing outside the locations, such as the 2 Leaky Cauldron locations - whenever we were shown a photo, it really added to us being able to imagine what it was like in the film. However, I would definintely recommend this tour!

The only fault is that the tour is VERY fast paced, i was almost running most of the time. and its a shame you dont get a bit longer to take pictures or anything, because you will forget how to get back to the locations! Also, I must say, I wouldn't pay anymore than £10 for this tour.

We went as a family of four (two kids 11 and 13) on the Celebrity Planet tour and were very impressed. Ferry, our tour guide, was immense and full of info on both Harry Potter film locations as well as other snippets of general London info. He was also very funny.

I have absolutely no knowledge of Harry Potter at all, having not watched more than a half hour of the first film, but even I found it interesting. So you can imagine that my wife and children thought it was brilliant.

The tour begins in Leicester Square and lasted around 2 hours 15 minutes. There was a lot of walking involved so bring some sturdy shoes, and involved a relaxing 12 minute Thames ferry transfer as well as a tube trip to platform 9 and three quarters at Kings Cross station. Ours was conducted during horrendous rainy downpours which turned Ferry's identifying umbrella inside out, rendering it useless as a highly visible focal point, before the walk through a packed Borough Market, but he counted us all out and counted us all in again at the end.

Definitely recommended if you're a Potter fan, and still a good day out even if you're a muggle like me.

We live in London but we very much enjoyed this tour as a chance to discover new places, and see old places with different eyes.
You do have to walk quite a bit, but the variety of places (small lanes, big roads, markets, boat ride) makes the walk very enjoyable.
We really recommend this tour, and especially Will who is a fantastic guide!

I liked the idea of a boat ride too, I have never been on the Thames before, so that in itself was an experience.

If you want to waste your hard earned Galleons, Knuts and Sickles then this is the tour for you. You will 'fly' along the sidewalks of inner London quicker than if you were on a Firebolt (unfortunately we only had muggle feet to keep up). The guide was obviously channelling Professor Snape with his snide comments about Daniel Radcliffe and J.K. Rowling not to mention his obvious disdain of his tour participants. Perhaps it was a sad attempt at humour or maybe he was hit with a jealousy curse. The guide must have either used an invisibility cape or perhaps a port key to whisk the other muggles to the next destination while we were unceremoniously left behind somewhere in Bishopsgate (we had to wait at a traffic intersection to safely cross the road but he didn't bother to wait for us). We waited at the last corner where we saw the group for 10 mins but our guide had disapparated. We wandered the area for an hour looking for the group muttering the occasional accio charm but alas, nothing! The guide had our name and phone number but there wasn't a call from him to follow up. An email to the company outlining what happened and that we were not able to finish the tour resulted in the generic 'we will investigate' but to date there has been no further contact from them (perhaps they used Errol the owl to send a message and he got lost?).

So would I recommend this tour to you? NO POTTER NO!!(Posted on 4/13/2013)

If you are comfortable enough for those other jokes, then the little bit of sexual jokes are fine. There's not too much of any one genre so it should be good for any taste. I took my daughter who just graduated from JHS to the U.K.. She is a so called, "Potterian" who loves the movie, Harry Potter. (I am not really. :) I booked this tour as I thought it would be handy to get around in a short time. 12 guests around the world (the U.S., France, etc) including us from Japan were guided by William Shabey. He is a young and a handsome English guy. Although my daughter really does not understand his English well, I translated in Japanese. On the sites where we were, she actually recalled how the site was filmed. She was so excited to visit the places and I enjoyed his friendly and knowledgeable guide. He was so kind to everyone and shares the story about other movies and the Olympics held last summer.. Celebrity Planet ought to be proud of having such a great guide like William.
Please pass him our appreciation!!!

Spent an enjoyable afternoon seeing some of the London sights through the eyes of the Harry Potter films. The tour guide, William Ashbey, really brought the films alive and left me wanting to go home and re-watch them all. Walked through areas of London I would not otherwise have thought to go to, and was shown bits used in the films which I would not have found on my own in areas I have been to before. Well worth doing if you are a fan.

We made it tricky for the guide (Fez) all our kids were asking so many questions, but he was great with them. Not just for Potter fans I'd say, we all had a good time. Wear sneakers though, there's a fair bit of walking. Boat trip included too!

We spent a few hours walking around London, discovering not only where some of the HP scenes had been shot, but also some amazing parts of "the not so well-known London". We really enjoyed the fact that our guide George was very Potter knowledgeable, with his HP stills on his tablet ready when wecame across a new site, and that, more importantly, he was lovely, approachable and funny. Potter fan or not, it's well worth it!

Great Tour!
I'm 17 y.o.and from Germany and was not sure if I could understand everything. But our tour guide William did a perfect job. With his loud and clear voice I could understand nearlly all details of our tour. Besides he was funny and it was easy to follow him.
The sites we visited were all perfect for this tour. If you did not recognize them, it was no problem, because William took a Tablet-PC and showed some scenes from the film so you could recognize them.
Our tour guide knew many interesting details not only about the harry potter films but also about the not so well-known places we visited.

So all in all the tour was awesome and absolutly worth it.

I went on the Harry Potter Tour this past evening with William Ashbey and he was fantastic! Because no one else showed, I got a nice little private tour of all the Harry Potter sites about London. He brought along an iPad so we could see clips and pictures from the movies and really put it all in perspective. I came over here on a budget, but this was my one splurge item and it absolutely did not disappoint. A must for any Harry Potter fan.

Will was our guide for the harry potter walking tour today. There were 7 in our group ranging from 10 year olds to adults and 25 in the whole tour. Despite the rain Will made the tour fun and informative for everyone. He had all sorts of interesting stories and facts about the films, jk Rowling, London history, and the film industry. The tour included a short boat ride and tube ride plus a walk through the old market and past the globe theatre. He was great with all the kids on the tour. We would highly recommend this tour.(Posted on 11/30/2012)

We went on the Harry Potter walking tour on a Saturday afternoon in November with Will as our guide. Overall we all loved the tour and found it very interesting and informative. Will showed us movie clips on his ipad of the places we were shown which added to the fun. The walk did move at a fast pace and would not be suitable for small children. Being a Saturday afternoon Borough Market was very busy, it would have been easy to get distracted by all the sights and sounds but as Will said "follow the wand!" The tour ended at Kings Cross Station with a photo opportunity of platform 9 3/4. If you love the Harry Potter films I would recommend this tour if you are in London and have 3 hours to spare.(Posted on 11/30/2012)

Me and My friend had a couple of days on london, and the Harry potter tour was a total highlight of the whole trip!

It was ran by a brilliant tour guide, Becky. From the word go, she was personable and was great at organizing everyone (there was far too many people booked up, but she handled it well - maybe not so many at a time???) and off we went on our tour! We visited some of the actual places in London where they had filmed the ministry of magic, the leaky cauldron and the inspiration for Diagon Alley.

The best part of the tour was the boat ride, down the Thames, like in Deathly Hallows (pt1) where the dementors fly down the river, by millennium bridge! It was such a lovely day, and the boat ride was gorgeous. After that we got off further down the river, and walked for a while. There was a lot of getting on off tubes and walking, so anyone who is physically not able to handle that, this might not be the tour for you. Another highlight was platform 9 3/4 at kings cross. When I went, they were doing a lot of renovation work, but had luckily put a temporary platform 9 3/4 round the side of the station, for such a great photo opportunity!

All in all, the tour was great. It involved a lot of walking, but if your up for an adventure I'd thoroughly reccomend it. Again, Becky was brilliant - but If i had one thing to say it is that the company need to give her better reference materials, like when we were standing outside the leaky cauldron, she had picture to reference it, but it was all dog eared and handled - little details (like laminting that picture for the tour guides) that cost nothing make the whole experience better!

I wanted to share my experience on the Harry Potter tour. Yuki was our guide and I arrived at the meeting point to find him wearing a brown sorting hat. He was delightful, smiling, and really in control of the group. We were in a busy area, he patiently waited for everyone to arrive and then moved us to a quieter location to begin the tour.

We travelled all over London... on foot, on boat, on tube. It was great to see so many different parts of the City in relation to the Harry Potter world. I especially liked the street with the book shops and the Leadenhall market stops.

Our knowledgeable guide was George. My husband and I had a fun evening walk, even though we were not fanatic fans of Harry Potter. I agree with some other reviews here. The walk is worth it. it covered a large part of london, and many of the lanes and alleys that you would not have known more about if not for this walk. The thames clipper was a great ride at night and i was also able to capture tower bridge night view zooming in from London bridge. I don't think I'll be able to find these places by myself D.I.Y if I didnt take this tour. Great walk Great guide ;-p I thought George would really look like Harry Potter if he had his glasses changed to round rimmed...but it would look strange if he was leading other tours. ha ha. good job!

Having lived in London for 14 years from 1991, I know the place pretty well but I got such a fabulous, fresh perspective on the place as well as revisiting well-loved haunts. Becky was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable and was so patient with my 8 yr old who patently thought that a good tour-ee would ask questions relating to the topic to the tour guide virtually every minute that Becky wasn't actually telling us something :-) It's great fun going to innocuous streets and then seeing Becky's photos of it as used in the HP films. Such a treat to have the riverboat trip too and we saw so many other spectacular, non-HP things too. Highly highly recommended. Kids were so entranced that they didn't grumble about the walking at all.

A big thanks to Celebrity Planet and Yuki for a nice Sunday morning walk around London. It was nice to see and hear London beyond the bus and touristy stops. We recognized some locations but were able to see and piece others together with the help of Yuki's visual aids. His voice projected so you'll be able to hear him without being directly next to him. Plus he was patient throughout the tour - waiting for my family's slow pace and others fogetting their Oyster cards.

If you have smaller children, bring a stroller and/or bring snacks and water. They will get tired. My older kid (10 years) doesn't like to walk, but had no problems with the tour. Get your Tube passes (Oyster/Travelcard) BEFORE the walk!

The boat ride was nice and could suffice as that boat ride that you should do on the Thames.

Thanks again Yuki. Learned more about HP and London!

Being such a huge Harry Potter fan, it was impossible for me to miss this chance to see the actual locations that inspired the books and where the movies were filmed.

There were few of us, but I think that only made it easier to hear what our guide, Yuki was saying, and keeping up with him and his explanations.

I really loved it! It wasn't too tiresome, the pace was steady and I got to see the street that inspired Diagon and Knockturn Alleys, which is something I've ALWAYS wanted to see/go there.

Will definitely go on more sight-seeing tours in the future! Many thanks*(Posted on 2/18/2012)

My friends and I went on the Harry Potter walking tour of London, led by the excellent Yuki Tokeshi (unmissable in his enormous wizard's hat). The tour took in many of the famous and not-so-famous parts of London that have formed the backdrop to the 8 Harry Potter films. Our tourguide regaled us with many fascinating facts and stories about JK Rowling's books, and the making of the films. He certainly knew his stuff, and his voice was strong and clear enough to be easily heard above the London traffic. He was also excellent with the children in our party - encouraging one to proudly hold the tour banner in the air as we walked along, so that no one got lost! I went on the Harry Potter walk last weekend with two friends and it was a lovely walk through London, with a scenic boat ride thrown in too! Our tour guide, Yuki, was animated and engaging and was great with the kids too.

The tour was quite a long walk, lasting around 2.5 hours, but we were pre-warned right at the start and also warned about the need for a travel card. It gets a bit tiring, but even with lots of kids, pushchairs and older people, the tour guide kept us all entertained and motivated and had lots of of extra trivia about London which added a nice touch.

All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable tour, and I would strongly recommend to even people who just want a quick tour of the main attractions in London.(Posted on 4/12/2011)

We were thrilled with this walking tour of Harry Potter's London, not just as fans of the books and movies, but as newcomers to London who found themselves in Leicester Square, Scotland Yard and Trafalgar Square, on a boatride down the Thames, Bridget Jones' (and Harry's) East London, across the London Bridge and, eventually, at the real (it's really there!) Platform 9 3/4 at King's Cross station. Even if you don't know much about Harry (and our multinational tour group were big fans), you'd learn more about London itself than you could imagine in just 2.5 hours. Our tour guide, James, knew his stuff - his London and his Harry - and clearly relishes the opportunity to share his beloved city. Part of my son's birthday, the kids dressed up and had so much fun, the tour guide was brilliant, even looks a bit like Harry Potter!

The boat trip under the millenium bridge is cool, and the tour guide showed us loads of Harry Potter locations as well as film locations from other films, which was really interesting. Highly recommended.(Posted on 8/15/2009)
