Was a really awesome tour, our guide (John H) was extremely knowledgeable and made it loads of fun. The samples were top notch and I could have easily eaten a dozen more. Overall, a 5 star rating from me. Thanks to John and Best Tours for making an enjoyable Sunday!(Posted on 3/14/2016)
Cupcake and Macaron Tour London Review by Tristan R

I booked this for my cupcake-loving finacee's birthday.

We visited half-a-dozen of the top bakeries and macron shops in the West End. VERY generous, full-sized cupcakes and macarons at each stop and a good variety of tastes and designs.

We had a great guide - funny, knowledgeable - and he took us on a great little tour of the back streets and alleys of Soho and China Town. Great if you're a visitor, fun anyway if you're a resident. There's always something to learn in London.

Docked one star as the list of bakeries visited did differ from what was offered, with no explanation. What happened to Fortnum and Mason's? As one of the most famous food stores in London, visitors will be might be disappointed not to go in as promised. Besides, they dragged us all the way back down to Picadilly for the end of the tour, but we didn't go in?? That was strange.

All in all though, a fun way of exploring central London. Whilst eating way more cake then would be considered healthy. Brilliant.(Posted on 2/19/2016)

Great tour with John today
He was easy to hear even in the busy areas and very informative. Could even hear him over the elderly street dweller by the book stores
Fabulous experience of macarons and delicious cupcakes
Had to bring some home - too many sweet treats for one afternoon for me.
Great tasting of 1st macaron from Laduree which was delicious, cupcake from BB bakery was lovely, next cupcake (gingerbread one) from Sweet Couture yet to be tasted as is the black bottom cupcake from Hummingbird Bakery. 2 macarons and just the visual delights at Yauatcha were yummy and then the chocolate truffle and lemon macaron from Patisserie Valerie rounded off the tour
Disappointing to miss out Fortum & Mason and there was no mention of the Cupcake Bakehouse which was in the information when the tour was purchased(Posted on 2/19/2016)

Thanks to John our Tour guide this was a great experience lots of interesting local knowledge and yummy cakes and Macarons. Worth bringing a bag so you don't have to eat them all at once. I enjoyed them when I got home. Great value as I used 241 voucher on the TRAIN. Will be taking my friends and family back to these shops now I've discovered them(Posted on 2/19/2016)

Booked this for my best friend for a birthday treat who loves baking. Plus points - The tour guide was very informative. The tasting treats were delicious! Slightly dissapointed that all the places listed to be part of the tour was not available. Also dissapointed that we were left outside some of the stores whilst the tour guide obtained the tasters - would have liked to have gone into each store to take pics of the cakes & get info from the staff re best sellers, etc. Overall a good day out - but I did have the 2 for 1 train deal!(Posted on 2/19/2016)

My friend and I had an awesome afternoon munching on cupcakes and macarons (and storing spares in our tupperware containers - my friend is very organised). John was an excellent tour guide, and in addition to being impressively knowledgable about cupcakes, macarons and the places we were visiting to procure them, he covered a lot of history of the areas we were visiting, including tips about historic music venues, the rise of the swinging sixties, collectors book shops and loads of other interesting facts. Would highly recommend the tour (and bringing tupperware containers) - we thoroughly enjoyed it.(Posted on 2/19/2016)

We were met by Patricia our tour guide right outside Cuckoo's bakery. We were immediately handed a little goody bag with a big cupcake inside. Patricia was very friendly and funny, she made every effort to connect with everyone in the group. The establishments we visited were all places I'd never been before and would definitely take my friends to for a wee cupcake and coffee catch-up. The tour was great value for money, we paid £13 each via a deal on Wowcher.com The macaroons were massive at Bibi's bakery and my boyfriend and I came away from the tour with 4 big cupcakes between us and a shortbread round each! Highly recommended Saturday morning of sweet treats in cute cafes within Edinburgh.(Posted on 2/19/2016)

My husband and I had a great time at the cupcake tour. Guides John and Ross were funny and knew a lot about the places we visited, West London, Rock & Roll and Harry Potter!
The tour visits 6 bakeries, all of them very good, although not all of them very cordial (the girl at Ladurée couldn't wait for us to get out).

What other reviews mention about one of the places promoted in the website closing down is true. Out of the 7 seven places mentioned on the website, you get 5 (Ladurée, Hummingbird Bakery, Yauatcha, Patisserie Valerie, Fortnum & Mason's), plus a 6th that is not on the list (BB Bakery).

Our favorites were the red velvet cupcake from Hummingbird Bakery and the rose macaron from Ladurée. Be sure to try those!

In general...
Pros: great tasting cupcakes and macarons, interesting facts about Soho, and a quick look at Diagon Alley.
Cons: all the tastings take place outside so sometimes is not very comfortable, the guides share a lot of information, sometimes too fast to remember half of it.

All in all, it's a good way of getting to know a different side of London, and if you have a sweet tooth then I would definitely recommend it.(Posted on 2/19/2016)

To start it was a a crisp sunny day Tom the first guide we met was walking round shouting "anyone for the Harry Potter walking tour" so no problem with finding them in Leicester square. Once everyone assembled Alan gave us some information before we set off lead by Tom. The tour was fun and informative and as Harry Potter fans we got to see some places in London off the beaten track. All in all a fantastic tour. Thanks to Tom And Alan for a great tour.(Posted on 2/18/2016)

booked this as something different to do for a few hours for my husbands birthday before going so see a show at the theatre. Was a really good tour. The tour guide John was really good. En route to each place we were taken down streets that I have never been down even though I have worked in London for many years. I particularly liked the street with all the first edition book shops where a signed copy first edition copy of Harry potter was priced at £2000. Was a really interesting tour. We paid full price which was £40 each. Not so sure it was worth this but I have seen in the past lots of offers where has been two people for the price of one which is definitely worth it.(Posted on 2/18/2016)

At 12 noon we met our guide, George, outside M & S in Longacre, (outside Covent Garden tube station). It was a large group, 25 in all, it would have been better half that size. However, George was excellent, lively, informative and patient. Our first stop was the famous Laduree, unfortunately as it was such a large party we went inside but had to sample the macaroons outside. This was how it was at each stop. Luckily the weather was good. We preceded to fine bakeries, including the Hummingbird Bakery and finished at Fortnum and Masons. George gave us the history of the areas and told us about each store we stopped at.(Posted on 2/18/2016)

We were very happy with our guide, an engaging and entertaining young Scots guy called Mark. As well as tasting lovely sweet treats we learned all sorts of facts and trivia about different places in London as we walked. The cakes and macarons were stunning and quite delicious. I particularly liked Crumbs and Doilies, a really sweet little place just off Carnaby Street.

Can I suggest that the guides wear a high viz vest or a polo shirt bearing the name of the tour? It makes them easier to spot if there are lots of people on the tour, and would also be great free advertising for the company.

Other than that, we greatly enjoyed the tour and would recommend it to others.(Posted on 2/17/2016)

I was delighted to be able to book this tour on the National Rails 2 for 1 promotion. There were 40 people divided into two groups and we were with George. George was delightful and informative and made sure there was a comfort stop at Yauatcha half way through. we explored areas in London I didn't know (Soho) and returned later in our trip to eat in Soho.

The website lets the tour down as I could not book at the £40 price on the website and spent about an hour over two days. In the end we paid on the day. A Surfeit of Sweetness Review by Georgie T

Our guide Stefano, a jovial young Welshman, met us at Covent Garden station and led the group of seven down to the Piazza where we stopped at Laduree, THE name amongst macaron makers. Before our first tasting he explained the origins of both cupcakes and macarons. The origin he gave for the name 'cupcake' while amusing, was slightly unsavoury and doesn't bear much scrutiny. Further stops were made at BB's, Yauatcha, Hummingbird Bakery, Cupcakes & Doilies and Fortnum & Masons. All provided delicious samples - some mini, some full size - so unless you have a high tolerance for sweetness and an elastic waistband, I would recommend taking a bag or container of some kind. Besides eating, you get an informative and entertaining talk about the area you're walking through. Can't recommend it highly enough, especially if you can find an offer - we paid £20 per person.(Posted on 2/16/2016)

My friend and I went on the cupcake and macaroon walking tour in London yesterday and we both really enjoyed it. George gave us the history of the areas and told us about each store we stopped at.

Had a great time on the Cup Cake Tour. John who took the walk was excellent full of information on the different districts we went through plus all the lovely cake shops we visited and the cakes we sampled. I think we visited 6 different cake places and had one at each stop. All the places you were able to purchase cakes if you wanted to take some home with you. It was a great day Thanks John.

I took my friend on the chocolate tour for her birthday and we were not disappointed. Our guide was Lisa. She was lovely and made sure she spoke to everyone in the group and really tried to get an idea of what everyone was looking for on the tour. We had plenty of free samples (in fact, some of the group had to have doggy bags for later) and received 10% discount in most of the places we stopped.
It was a really fun afternoon and nice to do something different!

I booked this as something different to do for a few hours for my husbands birthday before going so see a show at the theatre. Not so sure it was worth this but I have seen in the past lots of offers where has been two people for the price of one which is definitely worth it.(Posted on 10/3/2015)

We had a lovely couple of hours with our tour guide John from Edinburgh. The sun was shining, a great result. We ate delicious cakes and macaroons and listened to John's interesting facts and stories of places we passed as we walked the streets of London. Thanks for introducing us to Cecil Court and its fantastic book stores and Yauatcha, we will definitely be going back there to try the duck rolls as well as the delicious interesting flavours of macaroons served.

Cupcake & Macaron Tour of London Review by PeluKaltwasser

All in all, it's a good way of getting to know a different side of London, and if you have a sweet tooth then I would definitely recommend it.

Highly recommended Saturday morning of sweet treats in cute cafes within Edinburgh.

Would highly recommend the tour (and bringing tupperware containers) - we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Overall a good day out - but I did have the 2 for 1 train deal!

Disappointing to miss out Fortum & Mason and there was no mention of the Cupcake Bakehouse which was in the information when the tour was purchased

Brilliant.

Entertaining and interesting London Tour, sweetly different! Review by C M

Really great time spent in London, the cakes and macarons brought a nice twist to this London tour. I booked the tour via Amazon Local, I was looking for something that could appeal to both teenage kids-who hate historic trips and were dreading having to come along a London tour- and visiting foreign guests (including an elderly). It was a success. The whole group enjoyed the walking around with interesting varied facts (even some on Harry Potter!), a bit of history and some delicious treats to keep everyone happy! Our guide Scottish John made the tour really enjoyable. He was knowledgeable, funny, knew how to keep all in the tour on board with little quizzes, jokes or casual chats, unexpected bonus, he spoke perfect French! The aspects looked at during the tour are varied and the -many- stops for delicacies make the tour such an original entertaining way to look at London! Our favorites were the LaDurée macarons...All bakeries have fantastic displays...Thanks to our guide, as all in the group felt they had a great time out.

Our delightful Scottish tour guide John gave us an afternoon filled with history, interesting facts and sugar! We visisted a total of 7 different bakeries and patisseries on the tour- from the mainstream shops to the bijou one off patisseries. Some of the bakeries were decidedly more generous than others but no one was left hungry at the end of this tour- we had so many cakes & macaroons we could even take some home with us.Visiting seven bakeries in 2 and a half hours included on the tour meant you sometimes had to wolf down the deliciacies provided but the tour was still very useful for pointing out unusual bakeries and sights which a typical Londoner may have missed.

I had a great time on this tour it was nicely paced with lots of cakes and macarons to taste. Unfortunately Lorraine Pascale cup cake bakehouse was closed when we went on the 6th September but as our group was small and made up of 5 people we got more cup cakes and macarons! The brief history of each place was informative and interesting thanks to our tour guide John! As many have mentioned at Hummingbird bakery you get a red velvet cupcake so its better to choose another option at sweet couture other wise you'll get two of the same flavour. Highlight of the tour for me was Yauatcha for the crazy macaron flavours! They were my favourite out of all the macarons tasted especially the chilli and chocolate one. I also loved the cup cakes at sweet couture and Hummingbird bakery and will be getting the book soon to try making the red velvet myself. This was a lovely treat for my birthday and I went with my family. I would definitely recommend this tour. We booked it using time out vouchers so got it half price which made it more affordable!(Posted on 10/3/2015)

My mum booked the tour for myself (16) and three friends after having seen an offer on Amazon Local. The tour was excellent. It was a birthday gift and I would highly recommend it for anyone who loves sweets. There was no lack of food! Having lived in London for almost my entire life, it was great to find new cafes and shops to visit I would have not otherwise have known of (I will definitely go back to all of them). I can honestly say I was extremely impressed with each food stop, everything was soooo delicious. We typically ate the macarons on the stop and saved the cupcakes as they were individually boxed, but we could eat them on the stop or while walking if we wanted. The amount of walking was just the right amount and gave us just enough time for in-between the sweets. I will definitely do this tour again when I have visitors from outside of the country!

Thank you very much for a gorgeous day!
NB: You need to book early as there is a limited amount of people allowed. It's a walking tour, so make sure you can walk straight for 2 hours as there is no real time to stop.

Thoroughly enjoyed the cupcake and macaroon tour in London! Visited 7 delicious establishments: 3 cupcake, 3 macaroon and then finished in Fortnum and Mason where you can choose either a cupcake or macaroon. Our tour guide Siddy was excellent- very friendly engaging and knowledgable. I learnt several new things about London and macaroons which was an added bonus to the scrumptious tasting! Liked the fact that at most places you could choose your own flavours and often had a bag or box to take goodies home in, prolonging the yummyness! Would highly recommend!

Had a few issues booking the tour as I had Amazon Local vouchers and couldn't get it to work through the website. However I was emailed back efficiently and it was all sorted out.

Tour was fantastic and our guide, Ross, was lovely. Very enthusiastic and looked after us really well. His little extra bits of info on history were great. The cafes visited were all high quality and tasted and looked delicious. You get loads to eat as well! I thought maybe we'd only get tiny crumbs of cake, but we got so much I ended up saving a couple for later.

What a wonderful way to spend a few hours around London but on a cake crawl! My family had booked the tour as part of my sister's 30th birthday celebrations and we were very lucky when it turned out it was just us on the tour. Would like to thank our fantastic guide, Ross, such a laugh and certainly made it interesting! We loved the fun facts and learning about parts of London we didn't even know existed. As other reviewers have said we rated Sweet Couture and Yauatcha (cake display is breath taking) as the highlights. Would def return to Yauatcha and book a table. All in all would highly recommend :-)

Had a lovely time yesterday meeting up with my friend to go on this tour, we managed to dodge the rain throughout which was great considering the forecast! I liked the local information given out as well, I thought I had pounded most of the streets of London over the years but I still found some undiscovered ones! It was great that most of the tastings were presented in boxes or bags to take home as I had visions of eating tonnes of sugar and feeling quite ill on the train journey home! Yauatcha was a highlight - amazing looking place!

I thoroughly enjoyed the tour, the tastings were plentiful and delicious, we learnt a lot not only about the different bakeries and patisseries visited on the tour, but also about London. The guide told us plenty of interesting facts and fun anecdotes about the various areas that we walked through
Overall it was very good, however Patisserie Valerie was a let down, it should not be included in this tour: their macarons and truffles are just about average and there is nothing particularly attractive about visiting a chain. This stop should be replaced with a more atmospheric and genuine bakery. Yauatcha on the other hand was the highlight of tour: a real gem!! But please, please, please, please ditch Patisserie Valerie.

Despite the heavens opening on a very wet spring day, my work colleagues and I had a very enjoyable time walking through London with John, our enthusiastic and lovely guide. He didn't seem at all bothered by the rain and the fact he was drenched from head to foot without an umbrella; he just pressed on cheerfully imparting his knowledge in his booming actorly voice. The little stops to sample cakes and macaroons were like little milestones, to help keep us motivated for the walk. We were all Londoners yet it was still a treat to see little-known parts of London and get taken down hidden alleys and secret nooks. I agree with a previous reviewer that Patisserie Valerie is nothing special but we did need to get a drink in somewhere. Otherwise, the edible treats were all delightful. But none were quite so delightful as our guide. John, I'll be seeing you at your play in July!

Even though it was a crowded Saturday afternoon, starting at Covent Garden we wandered though Central London, being shown and tasting the most amazing cupcakes, macaroons and patisseries that London has to offer. Siddy was a great guide, clear concise and knowledgeable ensuring all members of the group were catered for..
We ate many samples along the way and yet had some to bring home, in addition to the extras that we purchased.
Although a Londoner born and bred I still learnt something and had a thoroughly enjoyable time with my daughter, celebrating a late Mothers Day.

We went on the cupcake and macaroon tour on a sunny Thursday afternoon in the school holidays. I went with my husband and four teenagers and all of us really enjoyed it. There was a fair amount of walking involved but plenty of cake stops which meant there was no moaning. I learnt lots abut the areas of London we walked through, which was a really nice touch. Now to the important bit - the food! We were all set for a feast but even so we still ended up with lots to bring home. Every cake and macaroon was delicious, but we particularly loved the macaroons at the Chinese restaurant, (sorry can't remember the name!), the lemon and earl grey was ut of this world! The two and a half hours flew past and we all agreed that it was a fab afternoon which we all enjoyed - rare for everyone to agree in our house! Definitely recommend.

“London Cupcake & Macaron Walking Tour” Review by JojaTheGreek (a TripAdvisor member)
Your rating
We got a really good deal for this on Amazon Local and paid £19 each for what I understand is usually a £40pp tour. You meet outside Marks & Spencer in Covent Garden and then walk to 7 different patisseries and sample some of their goodies. Out tour guide Siddi was lovely and made sure we all got to each location in one piece, which I imagine was pretty challenging on a sunny and busy Saturday in London, and also ensured that the cupcakes and macarons were only taken by people on the tour and not by random passers by who did keep trying to take our cakes! She was also very knowledgeable and gave us little talks at each location and at a couple of stops on the way which was really nice, enough information to be interesting without being boring.

There were about 20 of us in this group and this meant that we could not go into most of the shops as they were very small so were waiting outside most of the time, and also we were only able to choose what we wanted in 2 of them. This was a real shame as I feel that it did take away from the experience to not be able to go into all the shops to see all the cakes on display and get all excited about what we were going to try as we could have just done a tasting in any location really without the walking around. You did also feel that a couple of the locations were just giving away their least popular flavours or perhaps old stock as a couple tasted a bit stale which I shall go into now.

Stop 1 - a mini-cupcake from Lorraine Pascale's Cupcake Bakehouse in Covent Garden: Mixed views on this one. A selection of (very small) mini-cupcakes were brought out on a tray, most vanilla flavoured. Those who managed to get one of the chocolate flavoured ones said they were lovely and the buttercream hid a lovely mousse like centre. Those of us who were at the back of the queue and were left with vanilla were disappointed as the sponge seemed a little hard, not sure if these were stale or just over-baked.

Stop 2 - a macaron from Ladurée: Really, really good. The macarons were collected before the tour started so we were handed the selection on arriving outside the shop. Various people in the group were handed a little box containing 3 macarons to share out around the group. The flavour and texture was really good, no complaints here! I didn't expect anything less from the patisserie that invented the "double decker" macaron. One of the best tasting stops on the tour.

Stop 3 - a cupcake of your choice at Sweet Couture: The best cupcake of the tour in my opinion (although I know my friends all thought Hummingbird was the best) and I would definitely return. We were able to go into this shop and choose the cupcake we wanted. My Guinness flavoured one (a special variety they had done for St Patrick's day) was amazing. The sponge was so soft and full of flavour, the buttercream was piped tall and complemented but did not overpower the cake. Fabulous - probably the best cupcake I've ever had! A point worth mentioning is that the tour should have made clear at this stop that we would all be given signature red velvet cupcakes at Hummingbird, it was not explained and as a result a fair few people chose red velvet cupcakes here as they did not know what was coming up so after Hummingbird they ended up with 2 cupcakes of the same flavour.

Stop 4 - a signature red velvet cupcake at Hummingbird Bakery: Again we had to wait outside and we could not see inside which was a real shame - instead we ended up salivating over the incredible cakes in the window of the place next door! Think the guide sensed the frustration at not being able to actually see and experience the bakeries so managed to bring us some Hummingbird bags for us to carry our cakes in which was really nice of her to do. The cupcake was nice, and the firm favourite of most, but I stand by what I said earlier and for my personal tastes and opinions on quality I found Sweet Couture stole the cupcake show for me!

Stop 5 - 2 macarons of your choice at Yauatcha: Hands down the best stop of the whole tour! The range of very interesting flavours together with the quality and taste was just incredible - I will be returning!! The texture was crunchy yet chewy and soft, the best of them all on the tour and the best macarons I've ever eaten. I tried the lavender honey and the cashew caramel and both were incredible. Other popular flavours in the group were lemon earl grey, salted caramel and chinese five spice. This was in a completely different league. The restaurant also looked incredible and is somewhere I'm sure I'll return for the food not only the sweets.

Stop 6 - a macaron at Patisserie Valerie: the biggest disappointment of the tour for me and my friends (along with stop 1). The macaron selection provided by the bakery was mainly lemon or vanilla flavoured, there was only 1 chocolate macaron which was the first to go and I think one cherry or raspberry which also went first. Together with my group of friends we threw the macarons away after the first bite as they were hard (I don't know if that meant they were stale) and did not taste good. Not something we were expecting from such a well known patisserie. If it was just me that didn't like it then I would have put it down to personal tastes but all 6 of us found them inedible. A few people went into the patisserie on this stop to buy a tea to take away or use the bathroom.

Stop 7 - a macaron from Fortnum & Mason's: very nice, subtle flavour and nice texture, almost on par with Ladurée. I think my one was either pannacotta of vanilla flavoured and it was really good. A really nice place to end the tour, even though we could not choose the flavour of our choice from the counter (again we wer choosing from a random selection on a platter) it was really nice to be able to walk around and see all the lovely sweet things.

Overall I'm really pleased with the tour for the price we paid for it, as for that price it was value for money. However having done the tour now I would have been disappointed if I'd paid much more for it and do not feel that the full priced tour is good value for money, particularly as you cannot even go into the majority of the patisseries on the tour and mostly cannot choose the flavour of macaron or cupcake that you want to eat; additionally the group size is quite large. Top tip - try and stay at the front so you at least have a choice of flavours from the random selection platters prepared by the bakeries, if you're at the back be prepared to potentially be stuck with vanilla or lemon flavoured things.

Had a fantastic afternoon. Was a bit apprehensive as I was on my own, but the other ladies and John, our tour guide, made me feel quite welcome. John was really good - a great guide, not only for the Cupcake tour, but also gave snippets of information about the roads we were on and the area we were in at the time. The cupcakes and macaroons were delicious, and the shops we went into were really friendly, I would definitely go back to them again! I would go on another tour like this around London, maybe not cupcakes again, but will look at the Great British Tours website to see what else is on offer. There is a lot of walking, about 2 hours (more if a bigger group I think), but I felt that I walked off the cakes I had eaten! John kept a good pace, but made sure we stopped every now and then and had the chance to sit down and we had the opportunity for comfort breaks too in one of the venues.

Our first encounter with a cupcake was at Lorraine Pascale's Cupcake Bakehouse then on to Laduree for our first macaroon. Then what followed was a succession of 'cupcake and macaroon stops' from Sweet Couture to the Hummingbird Bakery, on to Yauatcha and Patisserie Valerie finishing at Fortnum and Mason where we said our fond farewells. At each stop we were served with various cupcakes and macaroons, and between each stop John would keep us entertained with anecdotes and history about London.
The whole experience proved to be a leisurely and entertaining stroll around London with cupcakes and macaroons all the way. What is there not to like!!!! Unless you're on a diet of course!!!!

John was a good guide, full of anecdotes and good humour and bits of info on London with which I can impress my friends. He kindly got one of the vendors to give me an extra, glute-free cupcake for my wife back in the flat. Much appreciated.

We went through Covent Garden, Soho, Mayfair, tasting cupcakes and macaroons.

I was a bit underwhelmed by the quality of cupcakes. Macaroons were altogether of better quality.

A pleasant afternoon, made even better by a rare two-hour burst of sunshine.

However, if I was marketing director of Great British Tours, I would:

1. Prepare a single info page indicating the name/address of the various cupcake emporiums, with room to write the kind of cupcake we had and tasting notes.

2. More interaction between the visitors and the owners/chefs. OK, I know the bakeries are tiny, and most were full and busy, even on a Thursday afternoon. Perhaps not at every stop, but it would have been interesting to have a few words with these folks about the cupcake business/art, their favorite recipes, inspiration, and so on. In some of the stops we could select our choice of cupcakes/macaroons, in others John went in to collect a pre-ordered bag of goodies. Little chance for interaction with the creators..

3. John, correctly, thanked us and suggested we write a Trip Advisor report. A few people have already done that. But come on, marketing director, make it easy for people to find the relevant Trip Advisor page. And you've lost a great opportunity to promote your other tours - this could have been done easily on the aforementioned info sheet, and through follow-up emails thanking guests for attending. The experience could have been wonderful with more theatrics, interaction, places to sit-down-and taste (we had two sit-down opportunities, one in the charming church courtyard of Covent Garden, the other at Café Valerie. But only beggars and diplomats ;happily eat standing up).

This is an amazing tour, John our guide took us through some interesting areas of Covent Garden, Soho, Carnaby St and Mayfair he was very knowledgable of the area and the bakeries we visited. He made it fun and got us efficiently to the tastings. The samples we received were generous and had a good variety of flavours to suit everyone. A big hit with my 10yr old!!!

A fantastic afternoon trip for anyone visiting London. Our guide John gave a very informative and ammusing tour. It was great to travel through all the little side alleys and discover a little bit of history as well as sampling some fantastic macarons and cupcakes. A must for anyone interested in food as the flavours and textures of everything we tasted were just brilliant. It was also great to try some of the more exotic flavours which you do not normally see. Jaffa cake flavour macarons are just fantastic. there was plenty to eat and we ended up saving some of the cupcakes to eat over the next few days.(Posted on 3/2/2014)

Fantastic! I was skeptical about this tour after receiving it as a gift for my 18th birthday. and seeing only one other person on the tour as well as my self and my friend I thought it might not be a success. But our guide John was wonderful, he was very knowledgeable and was talking to us not only about the cupcakes and macaroon's but also about the area of London, making it an all round experience. The cakes were amazing and oh so filling so I just tasted a little of each along the way and brought the rest home which kept me going for the rest of the week! Its a bit of a laugh and something interesting to try, a good day out if you want a catch up with a friend or fancy something interesting for a group.

Highly recommended.

Firstly I would say our tour guide Siddy made the tour, she was informative ,knowledgeable, and spoke the perfect Queens English despite being Icelandic. The tour started in Covent Garden and through many amazing secret alleyways and passages that I as a Londoner hadn't discovered . We stopped at 7 macaroon and cupcake shops sampling there delights. What cakes we couldn't eat were boxed up to take home. My only complaint would be that Patiserie Valerie was out of macaroons and be had a chocolate truffle instead. By this time we were stuffed. Value for money was good as we had purchased a voucher through amazon for £20.00. If I had paid £40.00 (listed price) would of been overpriced for the actual cake values. But overall a great way to spend an afternoon in west London. I would also like to add Sweet Couture had the best choice and tasty cakes and they had heated seats in the shop.

We really enjoyed this - got to hear a bit history and enjoyed a variety of cupcakes and macaroons. Bit different to a normal afternoon - but good.
Would definitely go back to a couple of the places we saw.
Siddy (tour guide) very informative and friendly.

Rain came toward the end of the tour and if it had rained earlier we would have struggled at some of the locations (eating outside).

Good afternoon & although we go to London a lot - we found new places we would go back to.

Terrific Value and Superb cakes & macaroons! On a dismal January afternoon John, our guide's warm disposition turned it into a wonderful way to spend two and a half hours. Even though we are Londoners we learnt quite a few things about the history of the areas we strolled around not to mention the location of half a dozen or more delightful cake shops that will certainly be on my list for repeat visits. The shop staff were all friendly and helpful and eager to wrap our treats when the sugar-rush got to us. I'll certainly be recommending this tour to friends. But it was John's entertaining commentary, not to mention that wonderful Scottish accent, that will have us seeking out the other tours in his repertoire very soon. Definitely a 10 out of 10!.

As Londoners we figured this might have been a slightly pointless walking tour, seeing as we could have gone to any of the cupcake shops whenever we liked, but it turned out to be a brilliant afternoon! Our guide John was perfect - light hearted, friendly and full of facts & anecdotes about each of the areas we walked to. I learnt several things I never knew about streets and places I've been going to for years!
Our group only had six people in it so it was a nice easy pace and each of the shops we were taken to had a great selection of cake-y goodness to choose from. I certainly didn't feel short-changed in any way and never rushed. We could take the cupcakes away with us if we didn't want to eat them all there and then which was good, and in fact enjoyed several macaroons for breakfast the next morning!
I'd happily recommend this tour for anyone with a sweet tooth and can't fault John the guide at all - he was jovial, entertaining & has a first class Scottish accent!

Went on the tour this afternoon with 2 friends and had a wonderful time! The pace was great as one friend is pregnant and the other over retirement age. We ate cake, brought cake home, learnt some local history. The guide was charming and humorous, and negotiated us through the pre Christmas crowds with ease. A lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Today (Nov 14, 2013) we took the Cupcake and Macaroon tour with John. What a delight! Yes, it's a lovely tour for a cupcake-aholic (myself) and macaroon-aholic (my husband), but it's also a very interesting history tour of fascinating facts and interesting asides. Did you know that the rather cryptic CC on the Westminster light poles with the scrolled "W" on the other side was sadly, a vain attempt by the then Earl Grosvenor to woo Coco Chanel by putting her initials on them?? Me either. Do you know where the Beatles last live performance was? This tour winds from Covent Garden and with its rich and varied history, through part of the West End and into Soho ending in the poshest part which borders, through a short-cut, the poshest of all London- Mayfair. John is a delightful and entertaining tour guide and keeps the tour moving smoothly and "sweetly" from one great cupcake shop or macaroon maker to another. He ties it all together with one of the best walking tours we've had of London. Including the best historical/trendy facts along the way. We've been to London many times and taken many walking tours. John, you're the best!

Delightful tour last week despite the incessant rain! John was a charming tour guide, very good at keeping the group corralled and well fed!
It’s a worthy tour to go on, primarily for the fantastic cupcakes and macarons but also for the interesting walk through London – you go through alleyways and courtyards that are off the main routes, showing you an ethereal side of London and some world famous locations.
I shall most certainly be making return visits to the cupcake shops. It was a nice treat to take some of the eats home, as if I had had to eat them whilst on the tour I may have over indulged and not enjoyed them as much as I did!
We were welcomed warmly by all but one establishment, the establishment in question at the end of the tour usually pride themselves on customer service, but not on this occasion, which was a shame.
Cupcakes, entertainment, Harry Potter, The Beatles, Soho, macarons, Japanese delights...just a few of the highlights!

This was more than just a cupcake and macaroon tour. We also learnt interesting history of the places we visited along the way, such areas as Covent Garden and Soho. The guide, John, was knowledgeable and humorous, and kept the whole group informed as well as entertained. I bought this tour for myself and my mum, who was visiting from Australia, and although she doesn’t have the great love of sweet things as I do, she thoroughly enjoyed the walk around the city and the fact that some of the tastings we could take home with us. I bought the offer at half price, and it was definitely worth the money, for the food you get! Visited some lovely bakeries, would recommend!(Posted on 10/24/2013)

As they say in their blurb - 'perfectly formed, lovely to look at, delicious to eat, elaborate, sweet and often decadent'. True on all aspects. This tour was truly wonderful! Our guide, John, was brilliant. We imagined we were literally going on a walk to visit the 7 establishments. However, we were mistaken. John was very knowledgable and gave us a talk all the way around which made it very interesting. The cup cakes and macarons, of course, were very indulgent but we received boxes in several of the places, so we can indulge tomorrow too - or we could share them with our loved ones!! (not a chance!)
We bought our tickets from Amazon deal and it was well worth it. It may have been a bit pricey if you had paid the full price.

Was an awesome afternoon of cake tasting. Cupcake Bakehouse was an OK start however compared to the other cake shops was a bit of a small sample. LADUREE as a wonderful shop and was very tempted to go back and buy some later. Loved sweet couture and the Oreo cupcake that no chose was awesome. Overall all the macaroons were pretty much the same quality but I recommend the salted caramel ones. However it was only 7 shops as we didn't go to Lola's. Ends at Fortnum & Mason's so was a too place to look around. Tour guide John was great! I would go again! <3 (Posted on 6/22/2013)
