Took the Great New York Food Tour with Marcy on Saturday, December 6th. Even though it was a rainy day, Marcy made the tour fun and interesting. The food was great! Got a chance to taste things we would not normally know about. We were very full when it was over. Marcy was a great guide and I would highly recommend this tour.(Posted on 2/24/2016)

I found this tour through a Groupon deal. Figured I would try it out for a surprise for my daughter's birthday. So I bought the deal for 4 people! It was well worth it! It was me, my husband, our daughter and her friend. Our tour guide, Walter, was awesome. We took the Great Food Tour of New York which was centered in Greenwich Village. Walter was very knowledgeable about the surroundings and about the places that he took us to eat. There was a decent amount of food on this tour. I wouldn't say I felt need to unbutton my pants but it did satisfy me until dinner. Even with the cold weather, it was still a great experience. I would definitely do another tour and see how that one is.(Posted on 2/24/2016)

I bought this deal for 2 through Living Social. We booked the Great Food Tour and were not disappointed. Marcy was our tour guide and she was really great. She started the tour promptly and we had a history lesson, then started at Bleecker Street Pizza. We loved all of the stops and were full by the end of the tour. It was a fun and different way to see the West Village. I would definitely recommend taking this tour.(Posted on 2/24/2016)

Loved this tour. Walter was super informative and all the food was great. The highlights for me were the Pizza, the Cupcake and the Macaron but it was all good. I liked that it was in a fairly small area so you didn't have to walk miles between stops. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who loves good food and wants to familiarise themselves with Greenwich Village.(Posted on 2/24/2016)

I have been on two tours with Best Tours, one was a cupcake/dessert tour and the other was a food tour. Both of our guides were helpful, knowledgeable, and very personable. One was named Mallory and the other's name escapes me at the moment. I did recommend them to other friends (hence the second tour) and they all loved it.(Posted on 2/22/2016)

I have done three of their walking tours so far - chocolate, drunken history and food. All very good. The guides have been great. Knowledgeable and fun. They are a little expensive, but I usually get 30% off or two for one, and that makes it well worth the money.(Posted on 2/20/2016)

My mom, husband, two kids and I attended the Great Food Tour of NYC where we sampled 6 foods on the tour (pizza, falafel, arancini & salami, coffee, bagel w/ veggie cream cheese and cupcake! It was an excellent variety of foods and the establishments were definitely some of the best of NYC! Our tour guide was awesome...super accommodating with our two young children (got them lemonade instead of coffee!). I highly recommend this tour (or others offered by Best Tours) for a fun outing with family or friends!(Posted on 2/20/2016)

We took a food tour of NYC and had a wonderful time.

At our first stop, we had the best pizza in the city! It was a small place, but the pizza was great. Our next stops included a deli, a bagel shop, a Mediterranean place for falafel, a coffee shop, and finally, a cupcake shop! The food was great, the guide was wonderful, and best of all, since we purchased this through Groupon, we got a great price ($25 each)! Well worth it!(Posted on 2/15/2016)

My four year old, my friend, and I did the Williamsburg food tour. Knowledgeable tour guide, and a fun way to spend 1.-5 to two hours. The amount of walking may not be super appropriate for young kids if they are not in a stroller, and more elderly individuals, but participants can always drop out early. Great destinations. Particularly liked Mast Brothers, and Oddfellows Ice Cream. Guide did a good job of giving just enough background about the neighborhood and each establishment.(Posted on 2/15/2016)

I got this tour as a gift for two of my friends so we could participate in this together as a group. We waited until the weather was nicer because it involved being outside and walking around. Our tour guide Marcy was fantastic!!! Learned interesting facts about NYC that we never knew before while enjoying some great food choices along the way!! If theres extra food available at locations, they are up for grabs :) Definitely 2 thumbs up and again, Marcy was great!!!

Doesn't Reach Full Potential But Still Good Review by DBV1

We want on this tour with Kyle, who did a very nice job considering the circumstances.

However, there were several broken promises by Great NY Tours you should be ready for.

First, there were clearly too many people on our tour (23), which really detracted from the experience. The GNYT website claimed that maximum capacity was 20, which they obviously ignored.

This may have been a factor in us making 7 stops instead of the promised 8 (again, due to overcrowding), which actually was just fine with us as the tour lasted longer than the scheduled 2 hours (be prepared if you have plans after). Bathroom breaks took forever as well, as these small shops are not prepared to deal with this big of a group.

So why 4 stars? Overall, it was a really nice walk, the chocolate places were interesting with good variety, Kyle mixed in some history of the city, and we did have more food than I expected after reading the complaints on this website. We had planned for dinner afterwards but no one was really hungry. My wife and daughter really liked this tour, and we live in NJ and visit NYC often.

So a few tips especially if its a nice day:
- it will take more than 2 hours so plan around that.
- the tour starts at Chelsea market but doesn't end there-- it ends in Soho.
- don't plan for dinner for a few hours after the tour

being a native new yorker, i wasn't particularly looking forward to this tour, but we were really glad that we went! the tour took around 5 stops, from brick oven pizza, to authentic bbq, to homemade ice cream. Also, who knew there was a chocolate factory in brooklyn! In between each stop, our tour guide (brendan) was very engaging, and added historical and anecdotal tidbits about williamsburg, and brooklyn.he definitely added a certain spice to the tour.it certainly was a pleasant way to spend a late autumn afternoon!

Great New York Tours-Ghost Walk Review by Freda N

My husband and I enjoyed our recent Ghost Walk Tour. Our guide, Kyle, was especially knowledgable and well versed on his history and ghost tales. He was friendly and had a wonderful speaking voice. His words made one able to visualize the scenes he was describing. He made the tour a lot of fun, including his candy give-away trivia sessions. We loved seeing parts of Greenwich Village we had never previously seen. I was a little disappointed at not running into any true ghosts....but oh well........it was still a good time.

What I Didn't Know about New York Review by jkdelahoy

Our walk on Sunday (food tour of the Village) was delightful. This was our 3rd GNYT tour, and our second -- as it happened -- with Marcie. )Our other food tour was with Brendan, in Brooklyn. Everthing I say about Marcie applies to him, too.) I was hanging out in the Village a number of decades ago, and still do as often as I can, but on each walk I have learned more and more about the city. I want to take all the tours; I can't imagine a better way of spending brisk, sunny afternoon, although the good weather was optional. . Both of our guides are extremely knowledgeable about their beat, and get a lot of questions. It is so much fun being led by such a couple of cool cats. They are both funny, considerate, professional, interesting people. I can just imagine how tourists must enjoy these walks, although we have had many New Yorkers along. What could be better than that? A true testament, and it also mixes it up a bit for everybody else. The food is always great, and the guides are so organized that everything is always ready for us so we can keep moving along. I have gone back to almost all the places on the tours.

We had a great time doing the food tour of Greenwich Village, NY. This was my fifth food tour, and you don't always get lucky with such a great tour guide, but on this tour, Walter told us a lot about the history of the area and took us to a lot of good food spots. I highly recommend this tour for any in-town or out of town visitors!

It was a nice afternoon to sample some of the yummy food delights in NYC. It was a large booking that day and we were split into two groups of 18. We stopped for a full slice of pizza, macaroon, cream cheese bagel, deli, cupcake, coffee and cannoli.

The walking was easy and you were full by the end. Be prepared to be on your feet the whole tour as the locations you went to will not have seating for tour sized groups. You may wish to bring your own water to digest the food as you go along. The guide was very knowledgeable of the area and mentioned historic and popular sites along the way and made sure you knew how to get home.

The meeting point for this tour was Village Liquors on 7th Ave South, not 7th Ave. Not being that familiar with New York, we did not realize that there was a 7th Avenue and a 7th Avenue South. We were at 7th Ave and 18th when we couldn't find Village Liquors and had 20 minutes to get to the meeting point. Fortunately, we got there in time with a couple of minutes to spare. Whew. The tour was missing six people, so they may have gotten lost as we did. Our tour guide was named Walter and he was very good. This tour featured West Village tastings and we enjoyed it very much. If you're a foodie and are not familiar with New York City, it is worth doing.

Awesome! Tour guide, Alex, was super. We were scheduled for Little Italy, but was changed to Greewich village. However, we were not disappointed. We stopped at #1 rated NY pizza place, meat market, dessert place, molly's cupcakes, coffee shop, and an Italian dessert place. Since our group was small, Alex also included some of Soho and stopped at a chocolate store. Alex was pleasant and very knowledgeable of the history of the area, stores and architecture of the buildings. It was great to be able to sit at a few of the places we stopped.

I purchased this tour for my boyfriend so he can explore the New York City. We wanted to learn more about the food, history and local attractions. Our tour guide Alex was very informative and provided facts that we were not aware. He was very helpful and answered all of our questions. He definitely has a grasp of the history of New York. This was enjoyable and my boyfriend love it. I would definitely do another tour and would like Alex to be our tour guide.
